Specialist lender signs sports sponsorship deal

A non-bank mortgage provider has announced that is has extended its sponsorship of a local sports team for a second term to support 'future champions'.

La Trobe Financial recently announced it is has re-signed with the Dandenong Basketball Association team, including a sponsorship component for “rising star” Lauren Scherf.

The lender’s president and chief executive officer Greg O’Neill commented: “It is important to support future champions.”

“The team shows the qualities of determination, discipline and desire to succeed. [These are] attributes of true leadership and we are very proud to again support them on their journey during the upcoming WNBL season,” he said.

Larissa Anderson, Dandenong Basketball Association team head coach, commented that the lender’s continued support of the team’s WNBL program is “invaluable”.

“Greg’s genuine passion for supporting up and coming stars such as Lauren and the backing they give us as a team to succeed is fantastic,” Ms Anderson said.

“Both Greg and La Trobe Financial take great pride investing in our elite program and we are extremely appreciative to welcome them back on as part of our team.

“Their contribution to the sport allows us to continue to provide exceptional pathways for rising female basketball talent,” she said.

Peasy director Joel Wyld recently emphasised that while community engagement is important in all industries, it is especially crucial in broking.

“I think it’s good for our image. It’s one of those things where we can connect to a lot of people,” Mr Wyld told The Adviser.
