Deposit Assure donates to flood victims

Digital home deposit platform Deposit Assure has donated to the Red Cross emergency fund for communities hit by the Queensland and NSW floods.

On Friday (4 March), Deposit Assure confirmed its team had raised $500 for the Australian Red Cross Queensland and NSW Floods appeal.

The company matched the amount and added an extra $4,000, bringing its total donation to the fund to $5,000.

Deposit Assure chief executive Etienne Rizzo commented the company had wanted to support communities in areas impacted by the recent downpours and to help them to rebuild and recover.

The company also reported many of its referring partners were mortgage brokers across the affected areas.

“Australians are known for mateship and being there for each other, as also seen in the bushfires and the whole team was passionate about chipping in,” Ms Rizzo said.

Deposit Assure’s effort has come after the banks have rolled out financial assistance for affected customers, including options to defer loan repayments.

The big four launched their support packages early last week.

The federal government also had extended its disaster grants to the NSW North Coast, as well as South-East Queensland.

As part of the Disaster Recovery Payment, up to $1,000 per eligible adult and $400 per eligible child, are available for flood-impacted victims.

Meanwhile the Disaster Recovery Allowance is a separate payment for up to 13 weeks if you have lost income due to the floods.

Both Queensland and the NSW governments are also offering a one-off relief grant, for eligible people.

Meanwhile, NAB declared that it will donate $100,000 each to Queensland Fire and Emergency Services and NSW SES.
