Life insurer makes key appointment

AIA Australia has announced the appointment of Renae Smith as its new chief marketing officer.

Ms Smith has 18 years’ experience in marketing-related roles and joins the life insurer after working for commercial lender GE Capital as its head of marketing and portfolio management.

Prior to working at GE Capital, Ms Smith held senior marketing roles at Telstra, and has also worked at World Vision Australia and Sharinga Networks in Australia and the USA.

As chief marketing officer, Ms Smith will be responsible for leading a team of 41 people across marketing; retail pricing and product development; and health and wellness.

AIA Australia’s chief executive, Damien Mu, said the appointment comes at an ideal time for the company as it continues its growth in the life insurance market.

“Renae joins us at an exciting time as we seek to build on our position as one of the fastest growing life insurers in Australia,” he said.

“Her extensive marketing experience will be crucial for us as we continue to expand our market presence and develop new products and services that meet the needs of our customers and partners.”

Ms Smith will commence her new role on February 11.
