BOQ Specialist names new CEO

Bank of Queensland (BOQ) has appointed Brett Robinson as the new chief executive of its specialist business, BOQ Specialist.

BOQ business group executive Brendan White said Mr Robinson is well recognised as an outstanding leader who fully understands the needs of clients in the health and professional services sector and already has a clear vision of the future growth opportunities for BOQ Specialist.

“Brett is a qualified medical professional, has had a successful career in medicine and financial services and has developed extensive networks throughout his professional and international rugby career," he said.

Mr Robinson succeeds Barry Lanesman and Andre Karney in the role.

“I am confident Brett will work closely with Barry, Andre and the senior executive team to ensure a smooth management transition thereby providing continuity to our business, our people and our clients,” Mr White said.

Mr Robinson will commence his role with BOQ Specialist on 15 November 2015.

In a trading update last week, BOQ revealed that the loan book of its specialist arm generated $1.4 billion of growth in home lending, contributing 68.4 per cent of the bank’s total housing portfolio growth of $1.9 billion for the full year to 31 August.

The bank also noted that BOQ Specialist delivered above expectations with cash earnings of $43 million – $5 million ahead of guidance at the time of acquisition.
