Individual finalists include loan administrators, regional and metro mortgage brokers, new brokers, and marketing professionals.

Brokers, brokerages, aggregators, major banks, and non-major banks will also compete for awards in the innovation categories.

Several companies have also qualified as finalists including aggregators, brokerages, major banks, non-major banks, mutual banks, and service providers.

Furthermore, the awards will shine a light on the top technology providers who offer broker and lender technology platforms, as well as aggregator/major brokerage marketing/CRM platforms and other platform providers.

How the awards can set you apart

With broker market share soaring to new heights, it has never been more important to recognise the residential third-party distribution channel for going above and beyond to act in their clients’ best interests.

Indeed, the latest data released by the Mortgage & Finance Association of Australia (MFAA) has revealed that 71.8 per cent of all new residential home loans were written by mortgage brokers between October and December 2023.

This surpassed the previous all-time record of 71.7 per cent in the September 2022 quarter.

The Mortgage Business Awards program highlights the achievements of leading players in every segment of this channel including mortgage brokers, aggregators, lenders, innovators, technology providers, and service providers.

The awards consider excellence in operations, technology, innovation, and the delivery of outstanding client outcomes.

Securing a Mortgage Business Award could distinguish organisations from their competitors when attracting and retaining top talent and when winning and retaining business, while reaffirming their role in propelling the mortgage industry to new heights.

For individuals, recognition could underpin career advancement while cementing their role in advancing the industry.

With a highly regarded panel of judges determining the winners, a Mortgage Business Award provides peer-reviewed national recognition of the capabilities of individuals and companies.

Assessment criteria

As part of the assessment criteria, entrants were asked to submit a video answering a series of questions, including:

What steps have you taken to ensure operational excellence?

Provide an example of innovation in your business over the last 12 months (over CY23).

How do you ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction?

What is the best example you can provide to demonstrate business growth in the last 12 months? (CY23)

The submissions were delivered to a panel of judges, who assessed each video and relevant data/metrics to select the finalists.

The number of finalists varies for each award category.

How winners will be chosen

Finalist submissions will now be delivered to the panel of judges, who will assess each submission against the criteria of each award category.

For individual finalists, the video will make up 100 per cent of the weighting.

For lender and technology finalists, the video will make up 30 per cent of the weighting, with positioning in industry research and rankings making up the remainder.

The combined judging scores for each submission for each category are tabulated, with the highest-scoring submission deemed the winner.
