ANZ to donate to financial wellbeing programs

The major bank has announced that it will donate $10 to financial wellbeing programs for every ace served at the Australian Open.

In partnership with The Smith Family, The Benevolent Society, Berry Street and Brotherhood of St Laurence, the ANZ Ace the Open initiative aims to improve the financial wellbeing of around 10,000 Australians by donating $10 per ace served at the tennis tournament, which runs from 15 January until 28 January.

The bank said that it is committed to donating a minimum of $100,000 through the scheme.

“We know financial wellbeing has a profound impact on overall health and wellbeing and is imperative for Australians to participate more in their community,” Fred Ohlsson, ANZ Australia group executive, said.

“We’re proud to work together with our charity partners on improving the financial wellbeing of the nation and help more Australians get on top of their money.”

Anton Leschen, Victoria general manager for The Smith Family, said that ANZ Ace the Open will allow charity partners to facilitate more financial wellbeing programs so more low-income Australian families can manage their money as best as possible through smart and informed decisions.

“We’ve seen these programs transform lives, with participants saving more and having more control over their finances. We look forward to offering more Australians access to financial education to create better futures,” Mr Leschen said.

ANZ Ace the Open will recognise every ace across all courts, all standards and all players at the Australian Open including singles, doubles, mixed, wheelchair and junior.
