Suncorp appoints former CBA exec

Suncorp Group has announced the appointment of Adam Bennett to the role of chief information officer.

Mr Bennett will join Suncorp on 1 July 2020, subject to regulatory approvals. 

He joins the banking group from Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA), where he spent close to 16 years in managerial and executive roles, including chief information officer of retail and business banking, executive general manager of local business banking, and group executive, business and private banking.

In his time at CBA, Mr Bennett contributed to the bank’s technology modernisation strategy and delivered many transformational projects, including new customer propositions, digitisation of end-to-end processes, risk reduction programs and technology innovations.

Suncorp Group CEO Steve Johnston said Mr Bennett’s successful track record in both technology and commercial roles meant he was well qualified to guide the group’s strategic technology path and digitisation, automation and data initiatives. 

“I am pleased that an executive of Adam’s calibre is joining Suncorp as we focus on delivering the best possible outcomes for our customers and our people,” Mr Johnston said. 

“Technology is pivotal to delivering our group strategy and the operational, product and customer opportunities we are seeking. I am confident Adam’s deep experience equips him well to deliver significant value.” 

Mr Bennett said he was looking forward to joining Suncorp and returning to a technology-focused leadership role.
