Former ME Bank CEO appointed to non-bank board

MONEYME has appointed the former chief executive of ME Bank as a non-executive director to its board.

The digital lender MONEYME announced that Jamie McPhee has been appointed to the board of directors as a non-executive director effective 14 March.

McPhee has over 35 years of experience in the financial services industry. He served as the CEO of ME Bank for 10 years from 2010–20.

The former CEO resigned from his position in July 2020, stating at the time that the timing was right for him and “right for the bank”.

At the time of his resignation, McPhee commented: “After 10 and a half years at ME, I am looking forward to taking some time out before considering what I want to do next.”

He was replaced by Adam Crane, who was ME Bank’s chief financial officer (CFO) before he was appointed CEO, and worked for Suncorp for more than 13 years across a range of positions including deputy CFO.

Peter Coad, chair of MONEYME, commented on McPhee’s appointment to the board, stating: “We are delighted to welcome Jamie McPhee to the MONEYME Board and look forward to benefiting from his wealth of expertise in the financial services sector.”

McPhee was the executive director of Bendigo and Adelaide Bank and is currently a director of the G&C Mutual Bank and Archa Limited.

He has also served on several boards including Rural Bank, Melbourne Renegades, and the South Australian Cricket Association.

Coad said: “Jamie brings significant financial, strategic, and governance experience, as well as prior knowledge of the business through his role as chair of the board of SocietyOne.

“I look forward to his contribution to the leadership of the company.”
