Suncorp exec to join CBA

Suncorp Group has announced the resignation of its chief risk and legal officer, which comes after the company revealed its banking and wealth CEO will retire later this year.

Anna Lenahan will leave Suncorp in September to take up the role of group general counsel at CBA.

She joined the group in March 2011 as executive general manager of its legal counsel and company secretary.

Suncorp CEO and managing director Michael Cameron said Ms Lenahan has been responsible for streamlining its legal partners panel, establishing an industry-leading capability framework for the team, as well as managing a high-performing legal and risk function.

“While disappointing, I can understand why Anna has been attracted to [the] opportunity [at CBA]. On behalf of Suncorp, I’d like to thank Anna for her contribution and wish her well for the future.”

Suncorp will undertake an internal and external search for Ms Lenahan’s replacement.

The announcement comes after Suncorp revealed that the CEO for its banking and wealth division, John Nesbitt, will retire in the second half of 2016 after six years with the group.
